Occasionally, private courses (or courses destined to become private clubs) may be open to the public for limited introductory periods while membership recruitment is underway. Such was the case in 2004 for a few new private Ontario golf courses, including Bigwin Island Golf Club and The Ridge at Manitou. Similarly, playing privileges are available at certain private courses when golfers book accommodations or golf vacations at partner resorts - e.g.   Wildfire GC and the ClubLink courses (Grandview - Mark O'Meara, Lake Joseph Club, Rocky Crest) in Muskoka.
