Legends on the Niagara

In 2002, the Niagara Parks Commission opened the Legends on the Niagara - a 45-hole, world-class golf facility - to complement its other golf venues which include the highly rated Whirlpool Golf Course - one of Canada's best public golf courses - and Oak Hall Golf Course, a 9-hole, par-3 layout.
The 700-acre facility includes two unrivalled, 18-hole championship courses (Battlefield & Ussher's Creek), a 9-hole executive-length course (Chippawa), a 45-acre, 360-degree practice facility dubbed "the firing range" and the Jim McLean golf School. The Legends on the Niagara facility has been designed to provide golfers of all ages and abilities with a range of golf experiences and opportunities to play, practise and improve.
Designed by renowned architects Thomas McBroom (Ussher's Creek) and Douglas Carrick (Battlefield), the golf venues incorporate a unique blend of secluded Carolinian forested areas, sculptured links, scores of sparkling white Ohio-sand bunkers, meandering Ussher's Creek, and several large man-made lakes. The crowning centerpiece of the complex is a majestic stone and cedar clubhouse which overlooks the spectacular 9th & 18th holes of the Battlefield course.

Whirlpool Golf Course

For Niagara golfers, few courses in the Region offer the kind of experience that the Whirlpool GC does - a wonderfully designed, mature course in a park setting along the Niagara Gorge. Designed by renowned Canadian architect, Stanley Thompson, the Whirlpool GC is a perennial pick as one of the best public courses in Canada and "Niagara's favourite golf course".
Whirlpool offers plenty of length - more than 7000 yards from the tips - softened somewhat by straight-away holes, generous fairways, few water hazards, short rough and fair bunker placements throughout the course. The large greens are also kind, hold approach shots well, are gently contoured, putt true but not too fast.

Practice facilities include a short game area - practice putting / chipping greens and bunkers - a practice hole, but no driving range. A magnificent stone / cedar clubhouse which includes the pro shop and restaurant fronts the course on the Niagara Parkway.
