Links Golf
Ontario Style

While most of the courses listed below are not, in fact, "links", they must wish they were - simply because they name, describe and / or promote themselves as links-style courses. Anyone playing a handful of these unique courses would be hard pressed afterwards to clearly define what is and isn't a "links" course - Ontario style or otherwise. Nevertheless, these courses rank among the best and most challenging courses in the Trillium Province, and each is deserving of a "must play" rating by Teeing It Up ONTARIO.

Ontario Links Golf

Ontario is not without its own brand of links golf. Technically, not true "links" - at least in terms of geography and routing - a number of courses across the province closely capture the look and feel of traditional links courses. Certainly, courses like Osprey Valley Heathlands and Eagles Nest come closest to looking and playing like a Highlands courses, but there are notable others.
Beautiful and challenging links-style championship courses here in Ontario include Loch Ness Links, Muskoka Highlands, Willow Valley, Devil's Paintbrush and Tarandowah to name but a few. At The Club at Bond Head, architect Michael Hurdzan has captured the look and feel of true Irish links golf, building the course atop and amongst rugged sand dunes, and including in the design both pot and sod wall bunkers, tall whispy fescue, rolling / undulating fairways, large, firm undulating greens - all reinforced by unpredictable breezes.   (more ... )

More recently, the Ontario links golfscape has introduced Ambassador, Glencairn, Piper's Heath and Tarandowah to a growing list of links-style courses.
