Course Profile

Sometimes overlooked, the Twenty Valley G&CC is not only one of Niagara's most scenic layouts, it is also one of its finest. Located in Vineland atop the Niagara Escarpment and built along and within the Twenty Mile Creek valley, the course design makes the most of its unique setting.

Given the valley topography, several of Twenty Valley's holes feature significant elevation changes. Twenty Mile Creek winds through the heart of the golf course, bringing water into play on a number of holes. A liberal scattering of bunkers and stands of mature trees further enhance the look and the challenge of the Twenty Valley G&CC.

Twenty Valley is well suited to recreational golfers, offering multiple tee boxes and playing up to 6623 yards from the tips. The back nine, with three par-5s is long (3570 yards), while the front side plays much shorter. Without a doubt, the lasting impressions of the course will be those many shots across Twenty Mile Creek.

Course Review

Twenty Valley's idyllic setting makes it unlike other Niagara golf courses both in terms of its look and the varied challenges that it presents. Long carries across ravines, elevation changes, rolling "dog-leg" fairways and secluded greens distinguish each hole.

The course seems always to be in good shape and features generous contoured fairways and well drained, soft and playable bunkers. Twenty Valley greens are large for the most part, hold approach shots well, putt true and quick. The meandering Twenty Mile Creek defines and divides several holes. Oftentimes, that means laying up or going for broke and being fairly penalized for an error in judgement.
The shorter front nine at Twenty Valley G&CC provides a good opportunity to warm up and score well. The par-5 1st hole can be reached in two and, while tee shots must carry ravines and the Creek, the short par 4s at # 4 & 6 are potential birdie holes as well. The par-3 7th & 9th holes are short to mid-irons at most. At holes # 2, 3, 5 and 8, tee shots must be kept in the fairway - or shots will be lost to par. The signature par-3 9th is a great short hole - an elevated tee shot, across the Creek, tree guarding the left side, bunkered right.
Twenty Valley's back nine is considerably longer and more demanding, both off the tee and on approach shots. The three par-5s still present good birdie opportunities, but the par-3s, the treacherous 13th (oft cited as Niagara's toughest par-3) and the 16th, are tough. The par-4s require accuracy off the tee, but only # 15 and 17 - both stretching more than 400 yards - can be considered long.

Two holes merit special attention and require your best golf - the par-3 13th and the par-5 18th. The tee shot to the 13th hole (194-214 yards) across Twenty Mile Creek to a small green perched high atop the steep embankment of the Creek is all carry. There is no room to stray left or right (tree trouble) or carry the ball beyond the green either. Take one, even two extra clubs.

The finishing hole is a sweeping, dog-leg-left par-5 that crosses the Creek one last time. Tee shots finish high above the landing zone for the 2nd shot - a lay-up for all but the longest hitters and wishful thinkers. The third shot will be a short to mid-iron shot across the creek to a narrow, elevated and bunkered green cut into the the opposite hillside. It's singularly scenic from wherever you are - provided that means the fairway !

Practice facilities at twenty Valley G&CC include a practice area with driving range, practice bunker, chipping / putting green.
