| Course Profile
Nestled between the Rockway Conservation Area and the Niagara Escarpment, the Rockway Glen GC & Estate Winery offers both great golf and fine Niagara wines. An established golf course, Rockway Glen is a full-service, links-style, championship 18-hole course. Beautifully maintained, the natural rolling landscape of this rural layout is both challenging and appealing to golfers of all skills levels. |
 |
The golf course features rolling fairways and plenty hazards for wayward hitters, including numerous ponds and bunkers. Long hitters will enjoy the generous fairways and reachable, risk-reward par-5s, while shot makers will appreciate the "target golf" character of Rockway Glen. Bentgrass fairways and large, sculpted greens are guarded by more than 60 Ohio white sand bunkers and a number of large, strategically located ponds. In fact, water comes into play on 10 of the 18 holes at Rockway Glen. |
| Course Review
Long and straight off the tee will provide many opportunities for mid-to-short irons into rather large, though well guarded greens. For shorter hitters, good course management and shot placement are the keys to good scoring. Work on the short game since very few, if any, long irons are required. |

On the front nine, good driving can offer up short-iron approaches and good birdie opportunities, especially at hole # 4. The par-5s, excellent examples of risk-reward design, can also offer good birdie chances - both # 1 and 7 are reachable in two for long drivers and wedge approaches for more conservative players. The strength of the front nine is a strong collection of par-4s (# 2, 5, 9) that are not overly long, but demanding nonetheless. However, the long par-4 8th hole - the # 1 handicap hole - is a brute, and par is a great score. Hitting the gigantic, fast, undulating green offers no guarantee that two putts will get the ball in the hole.
The back nine starts out kindly, with holes # 9 thru # 11 offering short approach shots and birdie chances. However, the design takes a dramatic turn at # 13 - a dogleg-left par 4. Cutting the corner is not a viable option and might result in a big number. Win back lost strokes on the short par-3 14th and par-4 15th. At the 16th, carefully consider the risk-reward elements built into this reachable-in-2 par-5, undoubtedly the best on the course. A necked-down approach area, a pond to the left and greenside mounding make "going for it in two" very risky. After a short 'n' easy par-4 17th, enjoy the spectacular view at the par-3 18th. With only the lake and bunkers betwen tee box and the green, there's little room for mis-clubbing or anything less than your best swing. |
| A bit off the beaten path, Rockway Glen GC is both enjoyable and challenging, yet very playable for recreational golfers of all abilities. Spacious and well suited for tournament play, Rockway Glen also offers a chipping / putting green, practice range and pro shop. Unique to Rockway Glen is the winery boutique and museum housed in the newly expanded clubhouse. |
