Tee Shots

"Keep it in the short grass"

Some golf holes suit the eye and instill confidence; Others give rise to doubt. When that tee shot comes to rest, it had better be in play, preferrably in the short grass and a long way out.
Most “resort” and public golf courses are designed with recreational golfers in mind – high handicappers – and feature wide, gently contoured fairways and seemingly ominous, visible hazards that, in reality, seldom come into play. Built to accommodate the “over the top” swings of golfers who slice or fade the ball, there is usually more room to the right than left, favouring a left-to-right ball flight – within reason, of course. Depending on one’s game and driving, certain tee shots stand apart, requiring a strategic approach, a confident swing and true-to-form execution. Set up to draw or fade the ball if you dare – no laying up. Down the middle is the best, though seldom taken approach on these tough Niagara holes.   (alphabetically)

Throughout a round of golf, a solid tee game and long, straight drives are paramount to good scoring. Strange how seldom that really happens ! Consider spending some time hitting balls under the watchful eye of a professional instructor. It is amazing how quickly a basic swing flaw can be identified and corrected with the help of a golf pro. Then, hone, hone on the range !

Whisky Run GC Whisky Run Golf Club is a picturesque, 27-hole, semi-private golf course located near the shores of Lake Erie, east of Port Colborne. Each of the three nines is unique in its design, length and challenge. Small, well-guarded greens characterize all three nines and place a premium on shot making, a solid short game and good putting.   ( Whisky Run GC profile & review )
