FORE! Golfers Only

Wayne Redshaw Wayne Redshaw

Widely known throughout Niagara and Ontario sports media, Wayne Redshaw has devoted his "retirement" years to the promotion of golf at all levels - locally, regionally and provincially. But nowhere is his dedication to golf more evident than in Niagara where Wayne publishes FORE ! Golfers Only and sits on a number of committees responsible for Niagara, Ontario Junior, OGA and CPGA events.

Now in his 45th year of covering sports at all levels - amateur and professional - Wayne began his journalism career in 1962 at the Welland Tribune, first as a sports reporter and, later, as that newspaperšs sports editor, a position he held for 30 years.

In 1996, Wayne began the firm of DWR Sports Publications and has published a number of books including FORE! Golfers Only - the only weekly golf publication in Canada.

Wayne has covered 33 Canadian Open Golf Championships since the 1963 event at the Mississauga G&CC as well as a number of LPGA events. In addition to professional golf, he has covered all levels of golf competitions including the Ontario Amateur championships.

For four years (1997 to 2000), Wayne served as editor of the Ontario PGAšs monthly newsletter Around the Green - published by DWR Sports Publications and distributed to all Ontario PGA members.

For his work, Wayne has been honoured by two professional golf associations. In 1990, he was named an Honorary Director of both the Ontario PGA and the Canadian PGA and even today remains the only individual residing in Niagara with that honour.

In 2006, Wayne was slected as Niagara Golf VIP in the Niagara Golf Awards.

In 2001, Wayne helped to organize the Niagara District Menšs Amateur Golf Tour and served as general chairman of the tour for four years. Similarly, in 2002 he helped organize the Niagara District Bantam Tour and until 2006 served as chairman.
