Founded in 1998, International Pairs has grown into a global golf phenomenon that attracts tens of thousands of golfers from around the world. Teams from 33 countries participated in 2005 and more are expected this season.
Since 1998, International Pairs has grown to become the largest 2-person team event in the world. Each year, golfers from more than 17 countries, including Canada, participate.

Clubs from across Canada are invited to stage International Pairs qualifiers to give their members and local greens-fee golfers an opportunity to participate. Each participating club is guaranteed a team in the Canadian Final. The winning team in this handicap event - men's, women's or mixed - will represent Canada at the 2007 International Pairs World Final in Scotland.

Who can play in International Pairs ?
The International Pairs Tournament is an open amateur competition for men's, women's or mixed pairs - club members and greens fee golfers - to a maximum handicap allowance of 24. All handicaps must be official (GAO).
Participating clubs may run their qualifier as part of an existing pairs event or as a separate tournament, with a minimum of 25 pairs necessary to guarantee a representative team in the Canadian Final.

The entry fee is $ 30. (+ GST) per golfer, with the winning pair from each participating club advancing to the Canadian Final - an 18-hole, 2-person, best-ball event using 3/4 handicap.

A key attraction to International Pairs is that it is open to anyone—men’s, women’s and mixed teams. And certainly all ages.

At the 2006 World Final at Celtic Manor in Wales, Canada was represented by Patrick Shearer and Scott Ray. At just 16 years of age, they were the youngest competitors in the field in last fall’s national final.
